What kind of energy do you breathe into your money?

Money, in and of itself, is inert. Its value and its energy come from humans breathing into it.

No matter where you are stuck or overwhelmed, how does breathing intentionality into your money support your optimal health?

When money comes knocking at your door, do you peek through the curtains and run screaming from the room? We all do that when we turn away from the looming credit card bill or avoid taking control of our monthly budget. We do that when we model a scarcity mentality for our children.

Or, when money comes knocking at your door, do you open it and say "Come in. I will breathe life into you - let's see what we can do together."

A young friend of mine did that. When money came knocking at his door, in the form of a modest paycheck from a new job, he took part of it and breathed generosity into it - and sent it to a small orphanage in Uganda, paying living expenses for a gaggle of beautiful children and their caretakers. Other supporters felt the gentle breeze of this young man's generosity and emulated him by breathing generosity into their own money, broadening the reach of these breezes well into the New Year.

Another person, Pradeep Kapadia, greeted his good fortune at the door and welcomed it in. He breathed into it a desire to educate kids in developing nations - and Kapadia Education Foundation was born. The foundation's gentle breezes have prompted others to breathe generosity into their own time and money, and collectively those breezes have paid for 585 years of college education for deserving scholars in developing nations.

The choice is ours. Run screaming from the room, or with intentionality (and outside support), open the door and welcome money in. If intentionality can feed young children in Uganda and pay for 585 years of college education, imagine how transformative it could be to intentionally breathe discipline into your credit card bill or to breathe patience into your monthly budget.

For me, opening that door every time (supported by others when it feels scary) feels healthy.

Make opening the door to money and breathing life into it, with intentionality, a healthy habit.
