What is invisible until I pay attention?

Something happened this week that took me by surprise.

No matter where you are stuck or overwhelmed, how does remembering that a lot more becomes visible when you pay attention support your optimal health?

I was doing what I often do early in the evening... cooking dinner, completing some work, chatting with a daughter over text, listening to the news on public radio, and mulling over some new ideas in my head.

I went upstairs, glanced out the hall window into the backyard, and there it was. The entire backyard was covered in silvery moon shadow -- the long shadows of tree trunks and branches, shining snow, the moon glow reflecting off of every surface. The quiet beauty of it took my breathe away.

I stopped and stared.

What else was I missing because I was not paying attention?

The next morning, I saw a fox squirrel lift his head to display a huge big puff of snow on his furry red nose. I was surprised, it was adorable and it made me laugh out loud.

The day after that, I saw the Super Snow Moon, huge and yellow, slowly lowering to the Eastern horizon. I was surprised and its size and beauty took my breath away. I felt awe.

And then this morning, I drove into a silvery cloud hovering above the road and the surrounding farm fields - I could see the ice sparkles in the air. I looked to the left and there, for only seconds, was a beautiful rainbow, starting at the horizon and going high up into the air. My heart almost stopped.

I could use more of these kinds of feelings!

When I remember that a lot more becomes visible when I pay attention, it feels super healthy.

Make paying attention, on a regular basis, a healthy habit.
