Are you willing to take the first step for your family?

Change is hard for everyone.

It is even harder when it happens within a family because of the natural tendency for systems (which is what a family is) to perpetually move towards homeostasis. Everyone wants to quickly get back to normal, or perhaps deny the need for change in the first place.

No matter where you are stuck, how does getting more support for yourself during change impact your optimal health?

Some challenges can be expected, such as children being born and then eventually leaving the nest, or a parents' eventual death. Those things can be thought about ahead of time and planned. Things turn upside down and then come back to right side up.

But sometimes challenges are unexpected - breast cancer, severe depression, trauma, addiction - and these can be very hard on the family system. When things don't come back to normal quickly enough, the stress reaction is to fight, run away, or freeze in place.

It takes only one courageous person in the family to make changes in their role in order to impact the family and start to the growth that will enact change.

Are you willing to take the first step for your family?
