What will you discover today?

Many people love routines; they play an important role in our everyday lives.

Routines help a person feel grounded, they save time, and they often support productivity. Imagine tackling some of the most mundane jobs you do on a regular basis without routine.

Driving to work is a perfect example....

No matter where you are stuck, how does intentionally adding opportunities for discovery support your optimal health?

By taking the same route everyday, whether it be by bus, subway or by car, you can use less mental energy figuring out where you are, and more on presumably more interesting things - like that APR podcast you've wanted to catch up on, or the latest news coming out of Washington, D.C.

But how would it feel if you also added opportunities for discovery to your day?

What if you took a different route to work once in a while, just to mix it up?

Then you might see the new coffee shop that opened, or the huge oak tree that has started to turn colors, or the family of ducks swimming along the shore. If you took a water taxi, as I did this past week, you would see the sun coming up over the Boston harbor and could hear the soft clang/clang/clang of the buoys anchoring the sailboats.

Discovering something new can enliven our souls. Notice what it feels like when you see something for the first time, or do something out of your routine.

Give it a try today. Explore and discover.

Make discovery a routine.
