How do you push the reset button?

Sometimes, my life feels like a rollercoaster - one that goes a bit too fast for comfort and then slows down, occasionally, when it comes around the curve.

No matter where you are stuck or overwhelmed, how does putting yourself back in the driver's seat through resetting support your optimal health?

Only to speed up and take off again.

When my children were little, I almost always felt like I was inches away from flying off the tracks.

And I remember a few times in my life when I felt as though my wheels were stuck in deep mud - unable to gain traction.

For me, it feels best when there is a reliable speed I can count on.

While I can be attentive to the speed and have some control over it, a death happens, someone I love suffers, or a great opportunity presents itself - and the rollercoaster takes off again. I hang on with white knuckles and it can become too much.

Then I remind myself that I can always press the reset button...

I can reset each day through meditation.

I can reset each week through observing a full day of rest, during which I turn off all social media.

I can reset each month by taking the time to ritualize the cycles of the moon and to notice the night animals who walk past my window, as the seasons change.

And I can reset by remembering to take a longer vacation, on a regular basis.

Pressing the reset button takes discipline and it is a choice.

When I remind myself to press the reset button and put myself back in the driver's seat of my own life, it feels super healthy.

Make resetting, on a regular basis, a healthy habit.
