Who is your teacher and are you receptive to learning?
Pema Chodron says that others show us where we are stuck.
They say or do something and before we know it, we are hooked and then we react in our habitual way. We blame or shame or yell or retreat and often act in ways that we later regret.
When we look at our habitual ways of reacting, we can see our patterns. And when we pause long enough to see the patterns, we can change them with honesty and compassion.
We rely on others, therefore, to teach us about ourselves so that we can awaken.
